Best Beginner Camera & Lenses - Once upon a time, I wondered what camera would be the best for me to start my journey in photography. One of the things I learned is to start simple and grow your equipment as you GROW and learn.

You don’t have to have a full-frame camera right away. You can have a crop-sensor camera and make sure not to shoot tight edits so you have room to crop later. Full frame sensors match old 35mm film, giving better low-light performance, wide fields of view, and blurry backgrounds. Crop sensors are smaller, making lenses act more zoomed-in, and keeping setups cheaper and lighter. If you can swing a full-frame camera, DO IT! If you can’t just yet, that’s ok! I started with a crop sensor camera.

I created a list of the best cameras a list of beginner cameras and lenses to hopefully encourage you to start your journey. I teach an Introduction to Photography class to teens. If they can do it, so can you. Do it afraid! But just DO IT!
